JD Runway

Post by Jim C »

JD - I am in and out of 800-1000' runways quite often with no
problems - I generally use 1/2 flaps as a general rule and keep my
approach speed about 60, if calm about 55 and it will just set down
very nicely. This speed seems to work very well for me, is safely 15-
20 above any stall speed and I don't float at all upon flare. I find
in the shorter fields with the flaps down the plane decelerates very
nicely on flare. With full flaps (mine are barn door flaps at full)
I can be stopped in a heartbeat, and if at full flaps be ready to
lose airspeed instantly upon flare - gotta be ready to land. You
probably alrady know this, but thought I'd pass it along just in
case. I'm thinking the Titan speeds may be similar, but you also
have a bigger engine and a little more weight so not totally sure.
