Info in Canada

Post by camstableford »

Hello Group. I would like to get pricing information on the Thunder
Gull, as well as information on engines, accessories, et. The web
sites I've been on don't seem to have complete information. Is there
a site, or is it a matter of snail mail to Earthstar? Aslo, does
anyone know if there is a Canadian dealer??

Many thanks.

You can call EarthStar at (805) 438-5235

Their snailmail is Earthstar Aircraft
P.O. Box 706,
Santa Margarita, CA 93453

Their website is http://www.thundergull.com/

Their email is thundergul@a...

Probably calling their phone number and talking to Mark would be
your best bet, because they are a little slow at answering email.

Too bad this guy (Mark) doesn't adjust to 2003 reality by not
upgrading his web site and not using e-mail. This does certainly take
some probably good business off his hands.

You're not kidding! Their website is a sorry excuse, especially for a
business.

If I recall correctly, one of their pages even lists distance endurance in
MPH figures. Amazing!

You have to realize Mark lives about 20 miles from the nearest town
and it's pretty small. He only has a dial up connection. There are
no cable, DSL capabilities where he is located. He is not managing
his website remotely I can tell you that. Seriously the phone works
great and he has been very accessible on the phone.

Yup, I sorta had a similar opinion around this time last year! :-)
For someone who wants great marketing and a lot of fancy talk, then
EarthStar is probably not going to be their first choice. For
myself, I continued reserching them anyway, because I liked their
designs and Mark's good reputation in industry publications. After
my research, I ordered a Gull2K last summer, and started building it
this last October. Almost got the wing done now! :-)
FWIW, EarthStar seems to be getting all the business they want with
the Web site and email response rate that they have now, so it
probably will not change significantly for a while. BTW, they do
respond to email, but just not really fast. Their telephone support
is really good though.

Hey guys,

What you will get in dealing with Mark is a guy who REALLY understands
airplanes and will bend over backwards to make your experience the best
possible (if you call him by phone). He is not good at the email and
doesn't spend a lot of time on his website, and probably doesn't need to do
so. Over the years he has been in business he has built up enough
word-of-mouth retailing to bring in all the business he needs, or wants. It
is important to Mark to keep his hand in every part of his business, and
this is difficult to do once a business grows past a certain size.

If after dealing with Mark for awhile you don't have a good opinion of him,
fair enough, you don't have to do business with him. If a fancy website is
important to you, there are plenty out there. I'd rather fly a wonderful
airplane.

Why calling across the continent while these infos would be easily
available trough his web site. He wouldn't have to answer several
phone calls, therefore saving a lot of time,,,,,,,,time is money..

No, you didn't get the point. I don't need or want any fancy thing. I
just need to see a price list, to see if that suits my budget and
also a list of dealers (distributors) or whatever you might call it.
