after the ligeti and sunny boxwing, this one looks fun to rent out for an hour one day. in one of the Earthstar brochures in the photos section, on the topright, there's a boxwing gull diagram. wonder if one was actually made..

Hi
The Ultra Gull is what you are referring to, I built 2 deferent Ultragulls.
both single sealers, one with a 16 foot wing span and a 447 rotax, did 133
mph and stalled at 60 role rate was 720 degrees per second, if you through
the stick over you could not keep from plastering your head against the
window. The front wing has the flap/elevator and the back wing the aileron.
It would fit on a trailer sidewise and not need to be taken apart for
transport.
The second one has a 23 foot wing span. I wone every spot landing contest I
entered till I was banned from them, All you had to do was fly low over
the spot and push forward on the stick at the right moment and the forward
wing flap goes negative and you are on the ground.

Hi Mark
That's really interesting. Could you possibly post some pictures of them in the common photo folder?
Thanks

Ditto to that. Is it still around, or both of them? The 133mph 17' wing one looks really fun.

The pictures I have are from the stone age and will need to be scanned to
transmit over the email.

Hi Mark
Thats OK. It would be as interesting to look at as some of the Wright Brother early wrecked or partial planes.

Hi Mark,
A dragonfly settled nearby in my parent's backyard garden for a few minutes,
showed off it's boom as it rested with hugging closer to the ground with
each quick movement. is it the lack of a boom in a boxwing that the Ultra
Gull was shelved?

The 23 foot Ultra Gull flew very nicely. Was stable and a novice could fly
it. I flew it first with a Fuji Robin 30 HP engine till it wore out after
about 400 hrs the engine was used. The main problem was that the wing tips
are close to the ground so the cross wind one wing low tecneak had its
limits. Did you see the picture of it?
