I just learned that the FAA is circulating proposed LSA rule changes that would prevent all ELSA aircraft (my old JT2, for instance) and ALL electric powered aircraft from flying over congested areas (the yellow areas on FAA charts). The comment period ends March 30, which is FOUR DAYS AWAY.
Please send a comment at least asking the FAA to extend the consideration period and give all interested and affected parties time to respond. For instance, a notice should be mailed to every owner of a registered aircraft that would be affected.

Re: Urgent comment response to FAA needed
Dick,
Thanks for the heads up. I would have expected this to be brought up by the EAA or AOPA.

FAA Orders Can Change Things And Catch You By Surprise.
A change to FAA order 8130.2 could prohibit passenger carrying in certain
experimental airplanes that include Experimental Light Sport and any
airplane that is electrically powered.

Re: Urgent comment response to FAA needed
Now the FAA has taken the stance that electric planes can’t carry passengers, so no electric Odyssey’s. Mark is not going to like that. I just saw that in Flying Magazine’s link in My daily AOPA on-line stuff.

(off topic) feels unusually timed; mar30 is the dark of the moon
apr25 would be like the quarter lit waning moon; sublime periods; read once that fishes go into a breeding frenzy at such times; always wondered if it's just the reflected illumination that causes it, as the gravity of the moon is always there, though it changes a bit with the perigee

Hi
It's not as bad as that. Experimental EAB electric powered multi seat aircraft are still slowed but not SLSA or ELSA at this time until I and others prove the reliability of the systems.
