Dear Mike, Richard, Alan, KB and Mark,
Thank you all for taking the time to respond to my request for your input. I learned long ago that listening to others with experience has the greatest payoff. It will be several weeks at best before I'm able to consider the trip. At that time I'll take another look at my progress behind the stick and make a decision.
Richard, you gave me some excellent issues to consider. be sure that I will do just that. Years ago, I did complete several solo cross countries in the San Francisco Bay area as part of my pilot training. I've been in the EAA and AOPA for over 15 years each and subscribe to all the publications. What I do lack, however, at this time is currency in flying. I promise after finishing up with my Sport Pilot training, I'll reevaluate the proposed trip.
I do have experienced pilot friends who would fly the trip if I deccide not to.
I owned and flew a Barnes hot air balloon for several years. Early morning flying is all I intend to do on this trip. I'm in no rush.
Thank you again, all of you.
Mark, I'll be in touch.
John

John,
Best of luck. I know how anxious you must be to get your new plane into the air.
You're going to love it. It is an amazing design. Keep us posted on your
progress.
