Gull 2000 XL?

I seen a Gull 2000 XL kit offered for sale. What is the difference from a Gull 2000?

I talked to Tom McClure the owner, here is some of what I learned –



What he is calling a Gull 2000XL is a modified kit he got from Mark for “big guys”. It has a 26’ Odyssey all metal wing (in between standard 20’ or optional 28’ soaring gull wing), and a reinforced tail boom. His intent was to have it be fully aerobatic with a 250 lb pilot.



He says the kit is complete, he has started on it some and has taken build photos if you are going experimental. The frame is powder coated, and it includes the engine cowl for a HKS. It has a used 10 gallon fuel tank.



He also had a HKS, not included in the $7K kit asking price, the sale of which was pending about 2 weeks ago when I talked to him. That may or may not have sold.



I would have made him an offer, but it’s just too far away from where I live (Dallas)…

Thanks Bruce. He is about 15 hours away from me too. I have a Gull 2000 and sometimes I would like
room for a bigger fuel tank and a larger wing. I have the 20 ft wing and my buddy has the 24 ft. His performance is substantially better than mine. I see the HKS is not listed any more.

He sold his engine to my friend and the kit to another friend if mine and I bought the prop.
