Flying with both side doors off.
Hi Guys. I am the proud owner of a 1993 Thundergull J-1. It was built by Mark. It has a rotax 618 and a metal wing. New VNE is 150 MPH. It IS FAST. I'M installing hindges on the left side foe ease of maintenance. Can I fly the A/C without both doors ? Thanks Ron Stinchfield...

Re: Flying with both side doors off.
Hey hey, welcome to the gang. Mark told me about that one that he had built for a customer that wanted to keep up with GA aircraft. I think that he said that it went 156mph wide-open I was very interested in putting 618 on mine once, but as always, money is the issue, but still drivin' my 503. I took a cheaper way out, and have been doing aerodynamic things instead, but the 618 and the imrovements?? I bet you have .090 thick windows as part of the 150mph Vne, and in my plane, the standard windows start flexing at 115+.

My buddy flys his J-1 with 1 door off when taking photos. He looses about 5 mph at cruise speed.
