E Gull Duration
Hi Mark
I know battery technology is improving every year.
My memory fails me a bit hear. When I met you at Oshkosh 2 years ago you had the E Gull
there and I think you said that you had a 30 minute duration with those batteries.
What kind of duration could you get now with the max amount of batteries. I guess weight would the restriction more than the bulk size. Also say money was no object so you could get the bleeding edge of battery technology.
Thanks
Fred

Hi Fred
I had about 30# of battery's at that time. I am flying with 60# now because
I have a bigger wing, The Soaring Gull 28 footer. I only had the 20 foot
wing last time I was there with the eGull. I have carried 120# of battery's
and that would go about 1.5 hrs. A larger motor would allow me to carry
more weight of battery's and get a longer range when settled down for cruse.
Happy Flying

Hi Mark
A hour and a half!!! That is incredible. What would those batteries cost?
How long would it take to recharge them?
Thanks

Re: E Gull Duration
Rahul,
Is the 100# your talking about, the weight of the batterys, or is it a model or part number? And I wonder how many minutes at 90mph, 45? (or 100# = 1hr, 200# = 2hr, and 10 gallons of fuel is 60lbs, and my 503 with gearbox, 2-stroke oil, battery, muffler is maybe 120lbs, or about 180lbs for powerplant not including prop). Hmmmmmm........

Re: E Gull Duration
That's Awesome, Sir!
100# batteries. Uhmmm.. :) it is a non-linear system after v=ir and cccv
with at least three hidden variables and a few implementation constraints.
in an open group and feeling a few months early, thought i'd just ask some
dumb questions to get a feel of the sweet spot and directions ahead
