Fred,
Here's a link to a heat shield sound deadener, I'm not sure how much it weighs.
Maybe this will work in the rear of the fuselage when glued to the sides.

Re: Automotive Heat Shield & Sound Deadener
Hi, Gary. I have a roll of stuff that looks just like that. It is aluminum foil faced, with a sort of chopped felt backing. Not sure how well it deadens sound, but I could try to weigh the roll if anyone is interested. It seems pretty light. I got this and another type years ago from I think JC Whitney.
The other stuff has two layers of open cell foam with a dense layer of rubber in between, and is foil faced on one side. I used it under carpet in the floor of my RV for sound deadening, and it works well, but is pretty heavy.
Another type of carpet that may work is a thin, light stuff with a thin rubberized coating on the back. It is available at many lumber yards, is sold on a roll 3 ft wide, and is used as hall runner.
If we make these things heavy enough, I bet they'd be real quiet!

Thanks,
Gary

Re: Automotive Heat Shield & Sound Deadener
I just stopped at a place that does custom interiors for cars and boats today and found some really nice light stuff that is thick and fuzzy. I will measure and order some.

Re: Automotive Heat Shield & Sound Deadener
I'll see if my scale can handle the wt of the roll. Maybe include a picture.

Thick and fuzzy sounds nice, Kess. Can I touch it?
