The beauty of having an ultralight is that the owner can make some changes and customize their airplanes. I hope we aren't getting on your nerves bouncing our ideas all over the place. But that is what makes it fun and some useful inovations have resulted. Its great to have you as an engineer share your wisdom and guidance on our ideas and plans.
Is that electric motor one that you designed?
If so how does the efficiences compare with whats out there?

The Rad-Cam is on hold due to the remnants of the recession. It is an
expensive project. The eGull is the next generation in the development of an
efficient vehicle. The Rad Cam is designed to be more efficient than any
other internal combustion motors, smoother and lighter. one of its requirements
is to run on a verity of fuels. The eGull will run on all fuels, Solar,
Nuclear, Coal, Oil, Gas, both liquid and gaseous, biomass. hidro, wind and so
on. Just plug it in to the wall.
This makes it much more versatile than any internal combustion engine. It
is also 6 times more efficient than the most efficient internal combustion
engine, 3 times more than the Rad-Cam. This is were the world is headed and
Fast! This is were we need to be developing the transportation
infrastructure to head off wars and famine and much industrially caused economic grief.
It is our responsibility to develop the next generation of Harmonious
power application.
As we do the economic rebound will be amassing.

The folding bike that you see in the picture is the one i carry in my
Odyssey when i go on long trips, At the end of the day or when ever i want to i
will circle the town near the airport and look for river route bike trails,
or the likes, and than after i fill up m plane with Petrochemicals, I pull
out my bike and go for a ride. it makes the trip much more fun and healthy.
It might fit in the back of the Thundergull but i haven't tried it.

You are right about Ultralights being a hot bed for innovation!
I am happy to add my 2 cents, aseptically if someone can make use of it.
The Electric motor was designed using MotoSolve, it is a design and
simulation program the designer is A frend of mine from Germany ho is here right
now as we are building the prototype. It is a Brushless, DC out runner
Permanent magnet motor that is about 10 in in diameter it has efficiency at a
par with the state of the art but not better. It is about 93% at the average
running parameter.
Tons better that the 20% of the Toyota Prius and about 17% of the normal
cars.
It is 27 hp, or 20 kW at 2000 rpm direct drive.

Amen to that one. We've been hostages to the big power brokers of the world too long, and oil has been one of the major assets of these people. Solar power is free, once you pay for the infrastructure, and it falls all over this planet at a density of about 1200 watts per square meter according to the researchers. The key for us to have more solar propulsion is the batteries, and I think that China is going to be a big player, as they can do things much more cheaper, and without as much EPA intervention in their workplace and environment, (sort of unfortunate for their citizens). Everytime the middle east gets into a situation, the price of oil goes up, and gas accordingly, the interest in electric cars rev's up again. I like the fact that both Cessna and Sikorski are moving forward with electric propulsion. Yippee! Maybe an electric helicopter out here on the farm someday!!

We are at the dawning of the Electric age. Battery's are the key but we
have battery's that will do at least most of the job right now. With all the
free innovators working on improving battery's and the system. I can get my
battery pack of 100 ah for about $3000 currently from a retail hobby shop
in China, _www.hobbyking.com_ (http://www.hobbyking.com) The prices are
vearring as the value of the US dollar gains and looses value related to the
rest of the world. But the prices relative to the rest of the world are
going down quickly. this is why the other countries are driving electric cars
and we are not. At least not till now. GM is building what will be the
worlds largest battery manufacturing plant to build the battery's for the Volt
and other electric cars that they have in the works, there not the only
company doing this. Tesla has bought the Toyota plant in silicone valley and
will be manufacturing there 4 seater in large quantities there.
Your electric helicopter is not all that far off. I have several
configurations that I am working no to see witch is best.
You Should join the EAA, that is the Electric Auto Association! Tuns of
cutting edge information. They have a wonderful news letter called

Amen. reminds me of a nice gentleman who talks about the future with a
squanderous abundance of energy and efficiency as a low hanging fruit
in the tree. Well, iPad 2 came out with a gyro and some goodies while
i slept, that would be fun to play with other than going through a
hundred equations in this strapdown inertial navigation book. got
distracted last week with large electro magnetic pulses, the Sun and
analogue things, every time i opened the book.

Fred, seriously, is that a football/ice hockey rule or Lagrange-
D'Alembert's principle? i have yet to really understand it, static
analysis of non-holonomic dynamic systems. what was fun last week was
the car workshop's honda scooter with no pedals, gears or helmet, that
i enjoyed turning with a some butt pressure left or right and a little
leaning like skiing on toes... thinking about the gyroscopic forces at
work and laughing about some thing that could be built into the seat
to navigate.
