Hi, I am in CDA Idaho right now but want to move to Washington State and I am looking for a small town with someplace to fly my ultralight plane. SO far Im looking at Cle Elum, Ellensburg, Yakima.
Any suggestions of a small town with an airport or field where I Could fly?
Id be looking for a small house and build a small shop to putter in.
Thanks in advance,

Re: ultralight friendly towns in Washington State
I have lived in Roslyn (just past Cle Elum) - loved it, nice little town,
and in Yakima. Roslyn and Cle Elum are just down from the pass and get a
good amount of snow. Yakima is essentially desert, green only below the
irrigation canals, but we loved the weather (occasionally cold enough to
get snow in the winter, but almost always sunny). And if you like peaches,
this is paradise. Ellensburg is somewhere in-between, climate-wise, and it
is a college town. Most of the stockyards are gone now, but phewy did they
stink! Make sure you don't end up down-wind.
Yakima has a nice airport, maybe a little too large for us Ultralight
flyers. Beware of military firing ranges to the north. And the near-desert
climate whips up some fierce winds. We named the road we lived on Breeze
Way.

Hello Mark, welcome to the Earthstar gang. There are three
of us based at Arlington Municipal on the west side of the
state, along with three Titan fliers. We also have a guy
based at Grand Coulee area on the east side. You also
should include coming to the Arlington Fly-In which is in
the first week of July where we will have our planes out
on display as well as hanging out with Mark from Earthstar
Aircraft and his e-Gull electric plane.
