what's a good noisecancelling headset?
thanks,
rc

(i see bose a20 for ga, ~$1000, bose quietcomfort ~350. unable to make out wether qc has a mike port or can be adapted for GA. 20yrs back, had a slim grey tactical noisecancelling unit, it came with a belt clip for the battery and electronics separate from the headset. seemed like an office gift that was left in an otherwise empty table drawers. couple yrs later the stem over the head broke in transit, and i couldn't that largish cuboidal battery in india anyway. then a white gun muffler appeared in the lab, better, but it aches a bit behind the ears after a couple of hours. then they both disappeared....)

Martin, what's your preferred headset on the Volta?

I had actually hoped to get away without a headset all together, and
installed a ceiling speaker and a gooseneck mike. But during full-power
flight, the prop makes too much noise, and during take-off, there is
additional rattling. I got a cheap passive headset (~$200), with weight and
color (red!) the main criteria. I usually take it off when I'm outside the
pattern, relying on the ceiling speaker to alert me. Flying without a
headset allows you to hear the wind noises, which you can use to learn to
fly without looking at instruments.

Hi Martin,

what do the quark vibrations during take off, sound like? could a video show it, above the prop sounds?

noticed this vibration isolation R&D upgrade twice now, for the last mile(s) of Shuttle transport to launchpad. even car doors are tested with an electromagnetic shaker, that looks like a small motor.
2cents,
