Trim Setting
As you know, Im installing a new trim tab. My question is What do you set it at before takeoff? My trim wheel turns 18 full turns from lock to lock. Before takeoff I set it to 9 turns or half way between full up or down, Is this the right way to set it? Thanks Ron Stinchfield....

Re: Trim Setting
Mark and I talked about the trim system for neutral. I have a habit of trimming for cruise, and just overcoming the stick pressure for landings and take-offs. The proper setting for cruise, which is neutral, is to make sure the plane is level with the nosewheel on the ground, level the stabilator, and run the trim in or out until the tab is in trail, or level with the stabilator. The other site is also talking about trim settings.

Hi Ron
That is a good way, I look at the plane from the wing tip with a ruler. I
sight the ruler through the door bottom line that is the datum for the pitch
axes. than level the stabilizer and put the trim tab in trail. you can
also level the door sill and than level the flat on the top of the horizontal
stabilizer and level the trim tab. this gives you the ideal setting and
than you can leave it from their to achieve the angle of attack that generates
the airspeed that you want in flight.
Happy flying
