Re: Trailering a Gull 2000
And if you want to see a Gull 2000, come over to Arlington airport north of Seattle. I have mine inside a hangar, and if my buddy Salvadore is around he has 2 Gull 2000's, both with the wings off so you can see closer and take some measurements. Mine is nicknamed the Blue Streak, be cause of all my fairing work, and yes it will bust 120 mph flat and level still with a 503. Enjoy and come visit.

Re: Trailering a Gull 2000
Rough rule of thumb, to double the airspeed takes four times the horsepower. IN the late 30s 40hp continentals were the power so designers spent a lot moretime on streamlining and fairing to reduce drag. See the Taylorcraft with lots of fairings and streamlines and the Piper J-3 with minimum fairing and streamlining匱he Taylorcraft was a lot faster onsamehorsepower.

Re: Trailering a Gull 2000
I’ve ben using the Lucas premium semi-synthetic 2-stroke for motorcycles. Mark put many, many hours on a 503 using a semi-synthetic oil from Champion, out of Pasadena, CA. It’s too far to ship for me, and Lucas at the O’Rileys is handy. Burns clean with little carbon build up.
Oh, and Blue Streak was put to the test yesterday with a 503 powered, way overweight Titan 1, when we went to full power I walked away from him quickly. Gotta love these Gull’s

Re: Trailering a Gull 2000
Ill try to come up and visit, but I need for the wx to get a bit warmer, my house only has wood heat and I am alone so it might freezeup with the cold wx out here. But soon I hope 匢 want to go meet Jim Frost and look at his JT-1 as well. Its pretty amazing he is able to still fly at 84!! Hope I last that long..
What fairing do yo have on your Gull????
Thanks, Mark Smith

Re: Trailering a Gull 2000
I have 3 pints of Pennzoil 2cycle oil for air cooled engines and a few A/C Spruce, it says semi synthetic.
I have a like new 503 Rotax on a Ridge Runner 1, single seat LSAàI bought it, it passed around a few times only flew 2 times. I think the guy who built it got frustrated with it, he was trying to learn to fly and then the 2008 rule came along and he had to get an ôNõ number and it got more complicated so he threw up his hands. The second owner did not know how to fly , he kept it in a garage for 4yrs and finally sold it because if a neck operation he needed..,
Im all legal except I need a BFR. Ill enclose a photo of ità[cid:image003.jpg@01D27A55.EB15F7E0]
I got rid of the big tires and put the stock 8.00x6 tires back on , better braking and less drag,
I suspect this plane will only go 70-75, too much dragà
I bought a Gull 2000 with a 24 ft wing, and a red tail, no N number, two engines both ôlow timeõ a 503 rotax and HKS engine and 2 props. The plane is in El Cahon Calif and the seller is supposed to drag itup to me Fed 10th, Hope this all works out, Im a bit nervous about no N number but will try anyway to fly it. I amout in Davenport, not much activity around here,,,
