Re: List Activity
You don't have to shim anything, just adjust the appropriate flap pushrod to get the roll out.

Actually, I'm stationed at the airport until I can learn to safely operate
out of my 850' runway. I'm too green with the Titan to accomplish that yet..
Challenger yes, Titan, no.

Re: List Activity
Aileron. So, in effect, it could act like a trim tab if not parallel with
it.

Re: List Activity
I can't help but wonder why anyone would
want to add drag (slightly drooping a flap)
rather than merely reducing stick pressure by
adjusting the aileron trim?

Re: List Activity
Hmmm... when I talked to him about it, he said shim the flaps. The trim tab
doesn't look good... :-)

Sounds like my ideal home, when I get around to retiring. :-)
For now I'm stuck in the big city in the Telecommunications business.

Re: List Activity
That won't work in my case jay. There is just a little play in the push rods
because of the rod end eye hole size not matching up perfectly with the an-3
hardware, so the flaps actually hang down about a degree or so, when the
aircraft isn't moving. Obviously when it is moving the airflow pushes the
flap up into it's proper position, it only comes down at that point when you
pull it down. The problem is that it pushes it up too far. If I shim it on
the left, it won't be able to go up all the way, thereby adding lift to the
left side.

Re: List Activity
Ultimately it isn't any different. By adding a trim tab you are effectively
adding drag to both sides of the wing. One aileron slightly up (causing
drag) and one aileron slightly down (also causing drag). I would think that
the sum of the two would be pretty close to the amount imposed on only one
side by shimming the flap on the offending side.

Re: List Activity
I assumed the TG's had separate pushrods to
individual flaps. I guess not. The flap doesn't
have to be set in a down/drag position.
Adjust the opposite flap to the up/reflexed position.
I should have studied the TG before offering suggestions.
Where can I see the TG flap detailed photo?
