Laughing Gull - 2016
Hi all, just to let you know I posted pictures of my 34 year old Laughing Gull, built by Mark at Earthstar.
Previous owner passed away and the Laughing Gull spent many years put up inside a barn/hanger.
Powered by Rotax 277 in excellent condition. LGull has original covering. Lots of history behind this plane.
After 23 years I'm finally back in the air ! My home field is on my farm here in Lost City, Oklahoma.

btw, 2nd gent i seen in a week holding a spanner purposefully. (imagining) must be the anti roll bar in me car, even when the technician sent me back once. ...one day I'll know if it's the same team loosening somethings, observing & indicating; or one team just indicating another team's handiwork, when they could easily catch them in the act; or just happenstance..

Re: Laughing Gull - 2016
pardon me. Let's hear more from Terry about the History of this LGull.
(His nice photo, walking with a spanner in his left hand got me wondering off topic again)

Re: Laughing Gull - 2016
Laughing gill history.
I was taking a brake in 1987 on a summer noon.
I started up this Laughing Gulls Rotax 277, jumped in and put on my seat belt. It was a worm day, with active Thurman's.
I climbed up to 500 feet and picked up a strong Thermal.
So I shut off the engine, knowing that I would be able to glide back and land, if I didn't have a good thermal.
As I was climbing through 1000 feet.
A Turku Vulture noticed my success and joined me in the thermal.
We glided together for a while as he would cross I front of me just a few feet away, looking me over qusically.
I thought he might be thinking, Wow, that is a really big bird that has swallowed a human!
Or manby it's a machine that a human built so he can do what birds do.
As I circled in the thermal, other Turkey Vultures joined the fun.
Pretty soon I had 7, all circling to the left and climbing in to the sky on the free lift of the rising hot air coming off the solar heated rocks below.
My new friend, the one with a missing feather on his right wing.
Saw an lorry unity for better lift by looking at the landscape below,
He banked off to the right and bedded for his better thermal.
And than up he went, all alone , circling to the left and rising faster than I.
I pealed off to the right and joined him, 6 TVs on my tail like a string of ducks. Headed for better lift .
Joining up with missing feather, I enjoyed both the better lift and the cocmoradery of playing with my new friends.
We did the follow the leader game a few more times till I needed to go back to work.
I looked around and than brisk off to the right and hunted for down drafts.
Now only Missing Feather was following me as I made my way Down from 6500 feet and 4 miles back to Earthstar.
I landed till engine off Azande roiled to my tie down spot, jumped out and was tiring down the wing when I herd I skree over my head, looking up I saw TV missing feather circling 10 feet above me asking me why I did that and begging me to come back up!
I told him I had to go to work but I would join him again soon.
Over the next few years we flew together manny times, enjoying both the freedom of flight and the friendship we developed.
Happy Flying
