HKS 700i fuel injection

Post by moushegiancarl »

There is a new HKS engine arriving soon. The HKS 700i with fuel injectionHP goes from  60 to 70. fuel burn should drop to @ 1.75 gallons an hour at economy cruise settings.   Could not find out any more information .Other than it should be available later this year. It is nice to know that a manufacturer that was ready to close their operations down is back with a winner.    The other engine is the 800i 2 cylinder, 100-110 HP   Sounds like 2 great Rotax competitors   Mark ? are you holding back info from us ?Give us the specifics.

My hope is that the FI can be retrofitted to the carbureted engine. Going
from 60 to 70 HP will make a big difference.

That's one thing that I do know, it is not backward comparable due to different heads and alternator. I worked with them on the development of this engine many years ago. Before the tsunami and shutdown of nuclear power plants that caused them to shut down production temporally.
Any way, they have not made any official announcements lately that I know of.

I found out about the engine by going to Google   Type in -> HKS 700i fuel injection  Go to the face book sites and you will see 3 pictures of a very clean design. 2 injectors per side and one largeK & N air filter It does not give any availability information .The date on the pictures is 08/06/2015   Start saving...There is also a picture of the 800i. Dual injectors and dual large diameterintakes with twin K & N filters. Hp 100-110    Site says date to be determined

Carl,

I'm curious about the fuel injected version however I copied your "HKS 700i fuel injection" into my Google browser & cannot find anything. Perhaps it was a premature "leak"?

Makes sense that a new alternator would be needed. Roughly 6 amps are
needed for the motor/computer combination. Perhaps even more and the
current system would probably not work unless the airplane had very little
avionics.
