Fuel pumps on HKS 700T

Post by cossitt.alan »

Just talked to Mark about fuel pumps.

The standard is one fuel pump on the 700T, there are two fuel injection
computers, but only one pump (standard). This standard pump/computer
combination burns around 8 amps.

In aircraft use a FI pump will last around 500 hours before a wise person
replaces it. In a car it would last around 3000 hours, but that is a fuel
tank (immersed) installation which Mark says is much more reliable (less
vibration, better pump cooling, and no air leaks).

Mark has an option of a smaller, more efficient pump which only uses 4 amps,
so that would probably save you 2-3 amps total (with computer factored in).

I know in my aircraft with all of its lights and electronics that I will
discharge the battery if I do many touch and goes. I need about 3000 RPM to
have no discharge and about 3500 rpm to get a full change. On the HKS with
its lower RPMs that will be higher in the power band than in my two cycle so
as others have said, you will need a larger battery.
