I cannot pass up this opportunity to put in a plug - excuse us for going
off topic.
My wife and I have been vegan for 11 years now. Last night, we hosted a
big, delicious dinner with 7 people, and not an animal product in sight.
But what I really want to mention is a new movie called "Cowspiracy". If
you are still on the fence about going vegan, please see it. It makes the
point that all the efforts we put into slowing down climate change by
driving more efficient or even electric cars (or airplanes) or biking,
using hydro, wind and solar to generate power, insulating homes, using more
efficient lighting and appliances, don't even add up to a fraction of the
benefit we would get from going on plant-based diets. And there are many
other benefits like being able to feed a growing world population with less
land than we farm today. If we want any chance of saving our planet and our
species, we will have to make the switch, and soon. Anyway, see the movie!

If you haven't heard/seen "Cows with Guns", enjoy. I bought the CD some years ago and get a kick out of it every time I hear it.

Re: Flight Toys for Boys and Girls
Amazing! my old favorite as a cook is tangy marinated mushrooms and peas. We're vegan at home since i was born. just yesterday, I plucked like five hundred mint and cilantro leaves, wondering robotic fingers that could a gazillion leaves, spinach and the rest...
once in a while a soldier would recover a deer from an out of town mil exercises convoy road hit, and bring some over for me too as a kid. One day I want to learn from a red Indian on how to completely utilize a medium sized fauna. they even make soup from the hoofs.

Re: Flight Toys for Boys and Girls
Well done, Martin...11 Years! Great! I have been a 100% vegetarian for over 40 years....and 90% vegan for the past decade. Just a little research shows that we can feed the whole world easily if folks could just abandon the idea of eating critters.
The destruction of the rainforest, loss of ground water, pollution of ground water by feedlots, over fishing of the oceans, and multiple serious human ailments....all tie directly to the habit of eating what is "convenient" instead of what is good for health and long life and our planet. Everyone should be encouraged to look past their plate and palate and consider the toll taken on the earth, their fellow human beings, and their own health.
Every living creature loves its life and much as each of us our own. So well done for your 11 years! Wish you 40+, or 50+ years more.
And thanks to Mark for bringing this topic into the discussion. A welcome element for this season of Thanksgiving, family and the cherishing of spiritual matters in life.
