Cowling

Post by blaswichk »

Hey Gull Guys's,

I just posted pictures of last years cowling project to close up the gap of the wing to the fuselage, and an engine cowl for the 503 that Mark made, and I modified for the Gull 2000. I had the Gull parked next to Mark and the Odysey last summer at the Arlington, fly-in in July. My modifications gave me about 7mph more top speed, a better glide, and a smile from Mark. The cowling also keeps sun and rain off the engine.

My next speed improvement will be wheel pants, and I'm anxious for Mark's new wheel pants he's working on.

Kess Nice job.
Perhaps a mold should be made and parts offered it for sale. Sure some Gull 2000 guys would be interested.Perhaps through Mark? I don't know how that would work. Just a thought.

Fred,

Mark has the mold that fit's the JT2 and J Thundergulls. The engine sits up about 2 inches taller in the Gull 2000 than the JT2, so I created extensions with fiberglass. It was fun, and I learned a bit. To build a whole new one from scratch would have been a whole lot of work. Maybe he will make one for a Gull 2000 with a 503, with a mod for upsizing to a 582, just a thought, Mark.

I'm thinking that Mark can make a HKS cowling, as he probably has a mold.

Hi
I have several HKS cowlings for the Gull 2000 but no plans to build a cowl
for the 503 since it is obsolete, having ben replaced by the HKS.
Happy Flying,
