Anyone installed VGs on their Thunder Gull?

Anyone installed VGs on their Thunder Gull?
I would like to install vortex generators on my TG-J, but
I'm not exactly sure where to place them on the wing.
If anyone has done this with success, I'd sure like to hear from you.
I don't know if Mark Beierle monitors this group, but if so, I would
like to hear his opinion.
Also, I wonder if anyone has had a problem with the 'J' seat?
Mine is a bit too reclined, because when I fly with ulteralights
I have to throttle back to around 4000 RPM, and the nose comes
up nearly 15 degrees. With the seat reclined I must constantly
hold my head & shoulders up to see forward. I would like a seat
that is more upright. If anyone knows of a fix for this I would
appreciate hearing about it.
Thanks, and have FUN!

Re: Anyone installed VGs on their Thunder Gull?
Contact Harold Shackelford.
HShack@a... I like to give him the credit. I used his design. I have put
them on a Tbird, and 2 challengers. I put them at least 2' apart, in the
valleys between the ribs. I think Shack put them on top of the ribs. He
doesn't seem to get any lower stall than me, but his top end might suffer
with them on top of the rib, just a theory of mine, not proven. I put the
back of the VG about 3" in front of the thickest part of the wing with thin
double sided tape. I have never lost one yet. They are only in the airstream
at low speeds. There is a surface layer boundary of air on the wing during
flight that the air is relatively still. This layer incerases further away
from the surface as the speed increases.I had them 1' apart on my first try
with the tbird, and the stall was 8 mph lower, but when it stalled, it just
quit flying, no mush. I took half of them off, and the stall was 5 mph
better than without, but the stall was gentle, and gave a great landing. I
put them between every other rib on the challengers, and it seems great, 5
mph lower stall. I haven't experimented with placement or amount on the
challengers, since 25 mph stall is plenty, 90 mph top, with 503 on Ch2

Re: Anyone installed VGs on their Thunder Gull?
Thanks for your help, Jay. I took your advice and
forwarded your message to Harold. I hope he can offer his experience too.
Your Ch-2 sure has a wide envelope!!! Who needs a
Thunder Gull with numbers like those?
Thanks again,
