"WaterBone" design wins ARPA-E LITECAR Challenge
Rahul Anyone building one can bend the tubes as they wish. The trick would be figuring out where the flat sheets of nonstretchable plastic will intersect and what the resultant bending does to the other side of the sheet(s). The math is way beyond me.

yes, thought the frame was truss&stress theory carefully applied with a calculator, the bulk of the effort was in crash testing. maybe i should've held back from asking.
on another note, Will Phelps made a 3year digest of the forum emails in 2003, awesome read, especially the pilot reports. wonder he could do it again?
Thanks,
Rahul
(or mail me the howto and cleanup scripts; the first set of digests are somewhere on the forum emails, ThunderGullGroup_1_287.txt, ..._288_499.txt)
