I just found this group after drooling over what little I could find
on the Gull for a year. I have also just about finished a Vmax (Ison
design) and have been flying a CGS Hawk Arrow II which I dearly love
but the Gull2K keeps pulling me towards it as my ideal plane. Does
the 2K have flaps now?

Are there any in Thundergulls in central Florida? I fly out of X49 (2
miles south of Sun-n-Fun) and will probably have to drive up near
Tallahassee to actually see Jim C's. Jim, being a long time
backpacker your stories of cross country trips are positively
inspiring!!! You ever wander down south? x49 and EAA UL chapter 149
is VERY UL friendly :-) Well, got to get to work... ya'll fly safe!

Since I just ordered one with flaps, I can answer this question for
you. :-) According to the kit price list, flaps are standard on an
Odyssey, and optional on a Gull2K. For what it's worth, I have never
seen a Gull2K without flaps, so it must be a pretty popular option
out here in California.

On my kit pricelist for a Gull2K, they were a $700 option.

Yes - I really love them too. When I put the barn doors down I can
get into some mighty tight strips. I don't use the barn doors that
often, however I do like 1/2 flaps for landing - It allows me to keep
my speed down a bit in the pattern more comfortably.

I think I have the only G2K in Florida (also with an HKS). I believe
a J model was just bought over closer toward Ft Walton Beach.

Was thinking about going down to the Flying Gators flyin later this
year since I have never been to that one, but its the same weekend as
Lucedale which is a great fly-in as well. Got to think that one
over. The weather up here has been atrocious lately so haven't
really gone too far for a couple of months now. However, maybe we
could meet somewhere in between. You ever fly that hawk up toward
Cedar Key. Can always get a decent lunch there. Of course it might
be better to do something like that sometime toward mid-September.

The Gator field is the farthest from home I've been so far though
Cedar Key would be a blast I'm not so sure I could borrow the Hawk
for that flight. Of course my Minimax might be flying by then and I
would love to make such a trip. When the weather gets nicer I would
be more than willing to drive to wherever if I can't fly there to see
the G2K. I'll be keeping an eye on this list daily in case something
comes up :-)
