Hi Joel,

Niice. Such a soothing interface. You're a great guy.

There are two email digests on earthstar yahoo group, ~2003 or something. as two mails, that a pilot collated from a previous earthstar group before yahoo. i downloaded them years ago. can't find them on local disk. lovely pilot reports of long weekend trips.

A few dozen Qs rise in my mind, on hardware & software stack upkeep and security, quality of service (QoS), uptime guarantee, data migration support, scheduled weekly|monthly backup(&restore) etc. Over a decade. Can detail out the geeky Qs, but I guess you already know most of them or even more. Is this in some public or private cloud or a home net?

Cyberweather is unpredictable, with very limited policing tools outside the perimeter. Guess it's trivial to deny service to internet pipes or open ports to regular home servers.

Data migration entails email text, attachment, photo albums, videos, files (like spreadsheets, docs), etc. This BB may have add-on components or a file server may work.

Hey Rahul,
I did this because, well, the end time is nearing and once the mail list dies, we all loose connection with each other. I am just about to post a question to the yahoo group asking for anyone to provide any archives they can from previous years. So if you could dig up what ever you can, I'll take it and try to post it here somewhere.

The tradeoff, of course, is longevity of a personal site vs that of a professional service. That said, Yahoo groups went away and Google has killed many services. At least with this, we have some power in deciding the fate.

I think this forum can provide a way to organize email threads for keeping the archive. I have two years of emails from the group that I'm going to try to import for a proof of concept. I should be able to add attachments to the form post if any were attached to the email. I'm not sure phpbb has a central file manager, but it may be an addon.

Thanks
Joel
