Well, we still don't seem to be getting too much activity on this
list. Some of you ought to have some adventures or do some flying
out there. Be fun to hear about where you go and what you do, maybe
a little about your performance numbers, etc.
Crashed my computer last week doing things I shouldn't do, but of
course did anyway. Didn't get my email up until Friday night when I
learned about a flyin near lagrange at a private srip called
Greyhill. It was a very nice affair.
A couple of friends left Panama City, FL Friday to go to another
friends strip about 15 miles west of Columbus, GA in Alabama. Since
I didn't find out about the trip until late Friday night, I decided
to try and catch them early before they left. I left Thomasville, GA
for a friends private strip and by the time I got there (@ 134
miles), they had already left. I then went up to the flyin about 39
miles N of there approx 4-5 miles S of La Grange, AL. The fly-in was
for the benefit of the Sherriffs Boys Home up that-away. Most
everything was free and the donations all went to the home. Kind of
a nice little shindig. They had hotdogs, hamburgers, fish, crappie,
low country boil, chips and about any kind of sodas, and water you
wanted. A T-6 and a Glassair put on a show along with some of the
locals and a bomb drop was also a part of the festivities. The
weather was very cooperative overall and it was a pretty good day of
flying. Afterwards we went back over to my friends place for the
night and I ventured home the next morning (today-Sun). Total trip
was 364 miles. 4 hrs 19 min total flying time and I used 10.5 gal of
gas (that's an average of 34.7 mpg and 2.44 gph used ave. By the way
that includes haulin butt up there Saturday morning only to miss my
buddies and later meeting them at the flyin. Probably could have
done better if'n I had cruised at a little lower rpm.
Well, that's the latest update. Really though, These posts are just
to say I am enjoying this little plane. I hope you guys are enjoying
yours as much.
Take care - Jim C
