OH CONTRAIR! mon ami; with the emphasis on the air part.
Pushing the limits of government is for the young energetic and rebellious, or those willing to be injured, arrested fined prosecuted, jailed or sadly, die.
For my country; HELL YES! for a hobby?F--K NO!!!
You speak so cavalierly of challenges?
Well heres ONE! Design and or build me a land plane kit using your wonderfully evolved tried and true basic design that you will stipulate in writing; that if built strictly according to your directions without a parachute and powered by an internal combustion engine or electric motor with power pack equal in duration to the five gallons of fuel ingested by the combustion engine and whose purchase costs are close to equal[powerplants] and has safe and satisfactory performance for a 225lb operator AND! meets the letter[not just the spirit] of part 103 at a price consistent with your present similar models; Then SIR! you shall have my payment forthwith!
P.S.You omitted the name of the book or did that reference escape me?
With cordiality and no disrespect intended, and hopefully not implied.

Wow, this forum seems to have been hijacked someone more interested in all
this BS intellectuality. Who the F-K are you to set down any challenge.
What's with all the French language? Are we supposed to be impressed? This
it typical of the pseudo intellectual who just wants to impress with
vocabulary, but is incapable of any substance. Well it's still BS and
should not be tolerated. After all, this is supposed to be a SUPPORT
group for those interested in the furtherance of the sport or activity. All
this MORON has done since entering this forum is promote controversy and
dissent. If he wants a PERFECTLY compliant UL aircraft, then design, test,
fly and then start your own frigging group. Also, how did we get from
aircraft to "For my country; HELL YES!" , Give me a break, what the hell
is this supposed to mean. Oh please do let us know about your illustrious
Military career (REMF?). Well F-K you. Take your F-KING opinion and go
back under your rock.

now, now... calm down, everyone. Lee has a real concern, and it is keeping
him from lining up to buy a kit, so this does belong on this forum - minus
all the acrimony.
We may not decide to ground our not-quite-legal Ultralights, but it is good
to know the potential ramifications. And Mark simply states that he knows
of no enforcements action by the fed. Here in Oregon, amateur aircraft
builders are on friendly, pragmatic terms with the FAA, with both sides
primarily driven by the goal to improve safety.
I am less worried about FAA enforcement than giving my insurance a way to
weasel out. Again, I may decide to take the risk (or even go without
insurance), but we should all go into this with our eyes open. Lee was
right to bring his point to our attention, and to keep asking until he gets
an answer, or until it is clear there is none (about now).

Hi Lee
The name of the book is Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
I am surprised that you are getting so wound up over this.
I have had reports from several participants in this group that they are no longer participating because of your attacks. There words.
It appears to me that you are not interested in taking the risks involved in this type of flying.
I would like to suggest you buy a used 150 or rent one. And enjoy flying it.
You have a choice,
Either relax or I will remove you from our blog.
Either way, please read the book, I think you will love it.
Happy Flying
Mark

Or . . . . . . , bite the bullet, build the plane the way YOU want as an EAB, which of course requires a student or better pilot to operate. The thing here is as we aviate, and look for places to fly further and faster than a Quick Silver, a bit of aviation school is in order. We have a CFI here on the airport that is super ultralight friendly. I have a friend that has an almost legal Kolb Firefly, and loves to fly with us for about 10 minutes, then we throttle up from about 50% and fly away. And as an EAB, FAA inspected and licensed with an air-worthiness cetificate, the insurance companies will love you, as they know that every 2 years somebody is going to look at your flying skills, and every year you with your repairman’s license, or a A&P will be looking at your plane for airworthiness. No free lunch here, go slow for free, or pay the price to go faster. Just my .02.

My military service includes two branches; U.S.A.F. [flight engineer] U.S.Army [ drill instructor] and spans 3 "police actions".
As the Gorn said to Captain Kirk "i grow weary of the battle" and so to many's pleasure and relief, i retire "bloodied but unbowed"

To The Group
I have seen this type of person come into other sites as well. They feed on controversy.
The name given to them is "Troll"
They try to inflame and direct all attention to themselves. They usually try to impress everyone with their credentials that can never be confirmed because its all bull. This guy could be 15 years old for all we know.
I would suggest the next time he inflames anything he should be remove.
If he is a Troll "HE WILL!"
