Here is the second response that I received just now from PuddleJumper
Floats.
As I am not yet building... others may be happy to know about this
generous offer.

Hi Mr.Moore, That potential customer is a real long shot..... I do not
think this guy is very serious; he has been working on his plane for
over 4 years........ On the other hand if you are serious we can try to
find a solution to that nose gear together. I do not have the airframe
but you do so we can exchange pictures and ideas and come up with
something. If you are interested. The add on weight to the aircraft of
the amphibious floats with all mounting hardware is about 120 lbs. Your
aircraft has 1000 lbs gross weight.
I fly a 1989 Challenger II on a Rotax 503 (MTOW of 860 lbs) and I fly
2 people on floats. If you are 250 lbs and plan on flying another 250
lbs person then you are right and cannot do it but I would think that
you should be able to carry 350 lbs of people weight.
The Odyssey has a smaller wing but if you have the adequate power you
should have no issues flying 2 people on floats; expect performance
reduction in terms of rate of climb and speed but that is normal on any
aircraft with floats.
Keep in mind that you are basically adding 2 docks under the aircraft
which add weight and drag but you have a lot more fun! Float flying on
ultra light aircrafts is made of compromises but the flying experience
sure makes it worth it.
Let me know what engine you have and then if you are interested we could
see what could be done. Best regards Patrick Vinet P.eng. Puddlejumper
