Peripheral vision display

Read about the Malcolm Orizon, a collection of 15papers today. A tiny laser, few 10s of mW, provides large, sensitive, attitude indication to the peripheral vision to stay well oriented in adverse conditions; separate from the instrument panel. The papers on human peripheral vision or ambient vision feel particularly interesting. Feels particularly useful in mountaineous situations where clouds just come out of the blue. Is it a thing in general aviation?
