Order 8130.2, Airworthiness Certification of Aircraft and Related Products

Mr. Holmes,

I received word of this proposed order only this evening and have only had time to skim portions highlighted by the sender. However, those portions constitute a fundamental change in the use and desirability of several categories of Light Sport Aircraft. Such changes would have a significant effect on the utility and value of existing aircraft and their marketability.

I request that the comment period for the proposed order be extended for at least 60 days after all registered owners of all aircraft potentially affected by the proposed order have received written notification from the FAA of the proposal and are able to comment.

I am the previous owner of an ELSA whose operation would be severely limited by this proposed order, despite the fact that the aircraft has operated safely for sixteen years, averaging about 50 hours of flight a year.

First I had heard of it too.

I emailed the link to the EAA rep for government advocacy to make sure they knew about it…
