I like the D-Motor, we’ve been talking about it for months. My Titan buds think that’s the engine I need in my Gull, and I agree with them. It’s just the big bucks it takes, like about five more big ones I think than the HKS. So I just soldier along with the 503, waiting for my lotto win, then I would probably go with a big electric and lots of battery. But then there is the water cooling aspect of the HKS and D-Motor, and my Titan buds are all running 912’s and piping hot water inside for heat. I was flying in 28 degree weather a week ago and it was nippy inside even.

D Motor?
Are there any D motors actually in the field yet? That motor does look promising however it would be nice to have reports on performance and longevity before committing to one. Regardless, what are the chances of a D motor becoming an orphan also?

I am not good at predicting the future, but they have been flying in Europe since 2007. The company that makes them is the same one that designs and builds all the Formula One race car engines in the world. Plus, they have some backing by the government of Belgium.
They have become available in the US only recently. D-motor USA had two in stock, advertised on Barnstormers.
