Hi. Am working to fix some issues on recently acquired J Model, 20' wing , UL. Have found that Horiz Stab control horn (bottom) was damaged in an apparent hard landing and was crushed. The previous owner fixed by bolting on a patch plate, but notice that the arm (distance from center of 2" round spar to control cable shackle mount) is less than on top. Top was undamaged and measure approx 2-1/8" and bottom is 1-3/4". I haven't checked the control column yet to see if is the same Top and Bottom.

I'm hoping someone can confirm for me that the arm distance should be the same Top and Bottom and what the actual center spar to center cable connection distance should be.

Scott, I could measure this on my project, but it would be tough to get the
exact dimensions on the assembled part. And these dimensions must be
accurate, or your cable tension will change through the range of motion. I
suggest you get the dimensions directly from Mark. He may even be able to
send you a copy of the drawing.

Thanks for your responses. I took out the control stick and found that the
control cable connections have equal arms of 1.75" from the pivot. For the
cables to keep constant tension, I would assume that arms and angles would
have to be the same on the control column as on the Horizontal Stab, but
will wait to hear from Mark on the correct dimensions. It looks like there
might be some advanced geometry going on with this system in the same way
the Ailerons are rigged, meaning that small alterations could have large
consequences. It is my hope that the cables have not been altered.

If you can send me a picture I can tell you if it has been modified.
The cables travel down the tail boom at an 8 degree angle, so the axis of the control arms are also tiped.

I think I've got this figured out. After accounting for the 8 degree tail boom all I need to know is the up and down travel in degrees of the elevator. If you have a pattern you can email that would be great
