I need your advice. My Thundergull J 1 currently has a 618, E gearbox, 18 gallon tank.Empty weight is 550#. I want to get it back to stock. 503, c gearbox, ground adjustable prop. My goal is to keep it simple. Mix oil and gas, keep 18 gal. fuel tank. Any pros or cons. Thanks Ron Stinchfield

I would highly recommend it. My 503 In Flight Ivo Prop J1 weighs 388. It has oil injection, C box, and the 10 gallon tank. Love it.

Get the 503 with the oil injection and be done with pre-mixing. Better oil distribution when the engine needs it, and less carbon build up. What are you going to do do with the 618?

Hi Ron
My favorite engine is the HKS 700 e for your plane. The 503 is my second
choice but burns twice the fuel. 10 gallons is plenty for both and saves a
lot of weight both by carrying less fuel and your tank is heavy thick wall
plastic.
I think we have a used 503 that was taken off to install an HKS if you want
a 503.
Happy Flying
Mark
