Electric flight

I just read about Brian Carpenter, (of Rainbow Aviation who gives a class on LSA maintainance), and the electric Quicksliver. He's really hyped on the future of electric flight, and feels that it will be like what turbines did to radial engines. This is a good thing, as guys like him who are vocal can help spread the word that Mark has already figured out a long time ago. As far as performance, I think that the e-Gull is going to be the head turner. The Gull's fuselage is so much more aerodynamic than the Quicksiver or the Yuneec eSpyder, and the Zero package is going to make it affordable. My friends think I'm nuts, but I'm stoked on the future of electric flight. (think solar panels on your hangar roof charging your plane while your at work, then you get to go fly with free fuel.) Batteries are kind of expensive now, but so is fuel, and rising all the time, as well as the cost of 4-stroke engines. Ya sure, I'm still flying my 503, as it's paid for and I pay attention to engine temps and prop settings. But one day it will be time to retire the trusty 2-stroke and do something different, and electric flight looks promising. Hey, where is my Zero motorcycle??
