Another way to redo the instrument panel

I cannot begin to match Fred's skill in design and fabrication - Wow!
But that hasn't kept me from doing a panel make-over on my JT2. You can
see the photos in my album.

I replaced the CHT and EGT gauges, the tach, and the worn-out altimeter
with an EIS 2000 unit. I left the airspeed indicator where it was, as
well as the compass, but installed a new compass. The mount for the
portable Garmin Aera 500 (superb unit) is now at the top of the panel
instead of the bottom. By making the panel face a couple inches wider on
each side I was able to incorporate the ELT panel and Hobbs meter that I
had previously cobbled into place at each side of the old panel. My Trig
Mode S transponder got moved over a little. The only task left is to
modify the cover between the panel and the bottom of the windshield to
fit the new configuration. My first effort proved that is not so simple
as it would seem.

Hi Dick
Your pictures look great. I think moving your GPS up and in the middle like you have done is a good idea.
It is fun to be able to improve and customize our planes like this.
