SKOT...

Back in December you were doing some investigation on the AeroInjector
carb system as an alternative to the Bing Carbs on the HKS. Seems
every time I turn around there is something new to study.

Any update??

For those unfamiliar with the system, see the link just below.

RMM,

What I know is that in the real world of watching Barnstormers ads I called two folks that did have the AeroInjector installed on their HKS powered planes. I believe one was a Ridgerunner and the other was a similarly configured airplane. So...there are some out there. That's pretty much all I know now. That setup does seem like a good idea however I think from a more pragmatic view just learning how to keep your Bings in synch makes more economic sense.

Isn't the big advantage being able to lean your engine in the same manner
as a standard GA aircraft?

Hi Skot and Alan..
The AeroInjector sells for just about the same as the Bing Carb. So
for a new engine buyer the economics work. I think I will contact HKS
directly to see what they have to say about the AeroInjector.
According to the AeroConversion company and Skot's comments, they do
fit.

The advantages [Not all apply to the HKS 700E] as per AeroConversions
web page include:
There are only two moving parts... no float bowls or secondary jets
Increased Flight Performance
Better Fuel Economy
Lower Cylinder Head Temps
Lower Exhaust Gas Temps
Lower Oil Temps
Simpler Installation due to the elimination of the fuel pump
Simpler Installation due to built-in control cable mounts
Allows for Aerobatics
Simpler Starting (no primer or choke required)
Impervious to Carb Ice
Lower Maintenance and Less Prone to Clogging
Weight Savings

I would stay with the Bing also. One of our friends has the AeroInjector on his VW powered Sonex, and it was a bugger to set up. There is no float bowl, and starting took getting fuel running out before the engine could catch. Also the mounting boot allows the thing to move around a lot.
Just my observation.

Hi
I have used this carb before and was not happy with it. The carbs that come
with the HKS are really good carbs and I wouldn't change them unless there
was something really better and in my opinion these are not.
Happy Flying

Please see a new topic related to this. I found another HKS 700E user
who installed the Aeroinjector carb system. He also was not at all
happy.
New topic is -- Single Bing Carb Intake for HKS 700E
I don't know much about this area, but thought the information was worth
sharing.

Here is the email I received on this. It is repeated in the new topic.

My name is Andy Chiavetta from Aerochia Aircraft. I got an e-mail from
sonex aircraft inquiring about me using there injector body on the HKS
engine. I did some testing with it on the engine. But the HKS not being
a updraft system like the VW engine I could not get it to work properly.
Instead I redesigned intake to accept the single bing carburetor.
Installing the single carburetor made it very easy to set up and made
the engine run much smoother at low rpm. Feel free to give me a call to
shop and I can explain in more detail of what I have found.
