Hi everyone. I've been a member for the last two months. I've been flying an Odyssey since last Spring and love this little airplane. I've spent much time checking out the many topics already posted and to glean as much information about all things Odyssey. I will try to get some photos posted so all can enjoy.

This Winter, I removed my faithful 503 and replaced it with an HKS 700E. The airplane should be ready to fly early this Spring.

My question is:
Will my 64" diameter electric IVO 3 blade prop work with this engine and the 3.47 gearbox? Has anyone tried this combination? I have enough clearance to go up to 68" diameter if I would purchase 3 new blades. Would this help the situation, since the propeller RPM is much slower than the 503 with the 3:1 gearbox?

Anyone need a good 503 with only 55 hours total time? I've got one for sale.

You will have to get Mark's input on this one. The centerline of the prop maybe higher than the 503 gearbox is now, which means even bigger prop, or the 68" with more clearance. My Gull 2000 has a 503 with a 3:1 gearbox, and a 68" Ivo. The prop turns a lot slower, ( 2000rpm at 6000 engine rpm), so it makes less noise (power loss), and prop disc is bigger than a 62-64".

Hi Greg,
The IVO prop does work on the HKS but we have ben using the Kiev or the
Aerolux. The longer the prop the better until you hit the boom. I have the
same model Odyssey as you and am using a 2 blade DUC 68 in. The 2 blade has
more vibration than the 3 blade. the Kiev and Aerolux are quieter and more
efficient but the electric IVO gives you a slightly wider envelop in that you
can set more pitch for cruse. It is not as important to do this on the HKS
since it has more low end torque that the 503 you can take off with cruse
pitch, the 503 wont.

How much are you asking for your 503?
