"WaterBone" design wins ARPA-E LITECAR Challenge

used to wonder about the visible black (or gray) spidery chromoly tubes on the gull's rear side windows, just for aesthetics; never dared to ask as the frame had been crash tested well. this waterborne design thing sounds neat, though it's not fiberglass.
couldn't we at least curve the visible sections a bit, like the big curved chromoly tube which forms the rim of the base of the frame?
