Weird, I am the one being criticized here; "corporate form of ad-hominem" is the kind of crap I wouldn't even bother translating into simple English
The suggestion comes from the simple observation that Mark has tested the eGull for 227 hours in the air, which may be slowed down due to long recharge times
Rule #1, do not waste others time to undercut a suggestion just because said firm went into debt, or some web pages look to be messed witch

The key element needed is relevance. Anything, any company and anything related is not necessarily relevance. Practicality and applicability, supported by a bit research, helps.
For example, per Zero Motorcycle's web site.... "Those interested in fast charging can reduce charge times to as little as one hour using the CHAdeMO accessory.* "Motorcycle charges to 95% in around an hour. "
Where's the problem that we need Enerdel or Altairnano to solve?

Wew!! despite the negative tones here, we are still getting some very interesting facts here. Now if we can have some info on the CHAdeMo accessory which seems to be a high powered charger.

Hi Kess..
See this link..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHAdeMO http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHAdeMO
This is a fast-charge system for vehicles. It will be a quite some years before a GA airport has one.
This is why I am interested in Mark's present, here and now, recommendation for an Electric Odyssey.
My minimum would be 1 hour flight + 1/2 hour reserve.
That would be enough for using my Odyssey for training young sport pilots here at a rate far, far below the usual C172 flight school rates. I have a CFI ready to assist this project. Electric reliability would be a huge plus.
Here are my questions again...
Mark....a practical question. If you converted an existing Odyseey to an Electric Odyssey now in 2014. With a 26 foot wing .. 1250# MTOW...
-1- What is the approximate aggregate cost estimate for your best choice for readily available engine and batteries and accessories? What is the engine and battery you would choose for this application?
-2- What is the estimated flight time one could expect in this configuration while not exceeding a 1250# MTOW?

I’ve always been on board with electric power. I live on 10 acres, and have 600’ available for a runway and have dreamed about my shed hangar with a solar panel the size of the whole roof to recharge my eGull. An hour flight is perfect, as we live in vacationland up here in the northwest, and me on an island, and an absolute joy to fly around at slow cruise with the camera rolling.
