Hi Mark,

do you know Robert Hobson? seems to be from san louis obispo too. he recently shared a detailed design of a 7000# collapsible trailer, professional diy, 1st for the family, 30pgs, on the web; with just a mention of a smaller 2000# folding one too. i really really need that smaller one for now, but have no contact details.

which one is your trailer design? the donahue layflat trailers are niice, but no diy there.

Park the plane, unbolt the wing, install wing cradles with wheels on the leading edge side
crib up under wing, roll fuselage aft so as to not snag propeller on wing. Now trrotate wing down onto leading edge and roll wing into 8.5x25 Enclosed cargo trailer and secure wing cradles to the wall with 2" cargo straps to the "E" track on the wall.
Roll fuselage into trailer and tie it down, install tail boom support.
I still have to work out the details. I plan a trip soon to Electric City Wa, to meet with Jim Frost and measure his Gull 2000 , that is why the Zenair 3 view dwgs were included. I could not find any 3 view Dwgs of the Gull so I can use the Zenair 3 view to record my measurements.
ANy comments????? A new 8.5x25 Trailer is 8K from Discovery Trailers in Oregon. Other sizes might work.

My idea of wing cradles would clamp around the wing and be about 3ft wide for support. They would have wheels on the leading edge side like the white and blue wing but the cradles would look sorta like the metal ones on wider with padding on the inside.

I had a Ridge Runner 3 and I installed "E" track on the trailer walls then slung the wings from the wall with 2" cargo straps I got off Ebay. Enclosed is a photo of that lash up/.


"E" track is also from Ebay and the 2" straps hook into the E track , the straps and fitting all from Ebay

this will not work with a 24' wing if you leave the horizontal on. The
horizontal is 88" an 8' trailer is 96" on the outside. 4" is used up if 2"
tubing is used, the wing is 7.25 thick before the droop down tips.
88+7.25= 95.25"

The trailer I was looking at has an 89ö wide opening at the ramp door and 96ö wall to wall once inside.
Stablizer is88ö across, but it is close to the floor?? Right, so I was thinking the wing with a chord of 4-1/2f
If hoisted to the ceiling would leave room under neath for the stabilizerà
I donÆt have the dimensions on the plane so really donÆt know yet.

The trailer is 8-1/2ö wide (102ö outside to outside) 96ö inside wall to wall.

prop the nose wheel up and tie the tail down should do in with hoisting the
wing up and secured

Hey, Mark........ Jim Frost's plane is not a Gull 2000. It is a J model.

I need a trailer anyway for another use but if it can do double duty as a shelter for the Gull, all the better..Ill keep yhou posted if it works or not..
Most of my life I have had to figure out how to do stuff by myself, no help, but if I can arrange help I surely will.

OK, are the dimensions, height of bottom of wing to ground going to be different???
I always have the option to use an open-air trailer, Im just trying to see if I can rig something for winter time storage..
