Hey Martin,

Tell us about the charger ideas you have in mind for your eGull in the coming months, maybe separate thread. Got an impression you were going to try something new some time back

Noticed this one for a - possibly near future - hybrid eGull; qtr the size and twice the power, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=W-rRm9Sb0NY

Well Arlington 2014 came and went, and the crowds . . . . . . . . . . , well they just were not there. But, the eGull had lots of lookers, in fact our site probably had the most activity and we had 4 Gulls parked with 3 in a formation on the ground. Mark had the 30KW Joby this time flying with a small battery pack for short flights and it looked good again. Martin was there with his new eGull project and blew me away with the quality of his paint and overall workmanship. Way to go Martin!! I took a couple of fast laps with my Super Gull and impressed some with my speeds. Don stayed on the ground with his ‘J’ at the back of the ground formation. Of all the LSA displays, I think that Mark has had the most activity this year. (an electric Gull in your neighborhood soon!)

I thought I would come home with all sorts of gear and trinkets, but there
were hardly any vendors there, and the "flymart" was disappointing, too.
But as Kess says, lots of activity at the Earthstar display, and a few good
prospects for sales. And it was great talking with the Earthstar drivers
there - I picked up a number of ideas. Also gratifying to get many
compliments on my build quality - I thought I was at the "OK" or "good
enough" level...

My fuselage (I took the horizontal off - no need to risk damage) got a good
"shake-down", on the trailer at 65 mph between semis. Held up well.

On the charger question: I am going to stick with all-Zero gear. Their
charger is optimized for the batteries they use, and the 115V version is
small enough to carry on board. If I find I need to charge faster, I could
buy a second charger, which would stay on the ground.

tabletop odyssey models, i recall at least one mention on the web about this. would look similar to an rc plane to a kid probably, maybe we could make one with a mini impish tail to begin witch

wonder if any gull pilot flies like Bob Hoover with a sponge ball pendulum trinket, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RqLpqR0SPnQ

dual carbon looks to be a candidate for the tesla gigafactory expected to produce by 2017. a lithium titanium (LTO) pack is also suggested as an rapid DC recharge option - like once a day - for onboard batteries, after an over night chargé

The ARPA-E + APEI + Toyota silicon carbide charger prototype seems to be derived from power electronics of the joint strike fighter (F35 lightning 2) program; planned to be in production in another 4 years

Which is why I was so curious about Martin's charger ;), who plans to fly from army airfields... maybe singing, Oh I get by with a little help from my friends (here comes an F35 stealth pilot for a quick eGull aerial charge)
